Be where the all the action is!

We are excited to announce that KingstOOn 2019 will take place at the University of Technology, 237 Old Hope Road, located in the Greater Metropolitan Region in Kingston, Jamaica.

The University of Technology Jamaica, Jamaica (UTech Jamaica) dates its beginning from 1958 where it was formally accorded university status on September 1, 1995. The history of the institution is ultimately connected with the social and economic development of Jamaica. The university’s mandate is reflected in its mission to stimulate positive change in Caribbean society through the provision of higher education. The Faculty of Engineering and Computing through its School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) and the School of Engineering has been the premier tertiary level provider of education in engineering and computing in Jamaica for over fifty years, producing competent and knowledgeable graduates who are making a valuable contribution to development in Jamaica, the Caribbean region and beyond. The School of Computing and Information Technology has been deliberate in its efforts to offer courses of study that are relevant to the industry and to employers. In keeping with this thrust, UTech, Jamaica began offering the Bachelor of Science degree in Animation Production and Development (BSc. APD) in August 2014.  The course of study is contributing to capacity building and the provision of needed trained professions in the  digital and creative industries.

World Bank’s Regional Vice President, Mr. Jorge Familiar, says the YEDAI Project is the “coolest” World Bank Project he has ever seen! He made this statement at the World Bank’s site visit to the University of Technology, Jamaica’s Digital Animation Lab on November 8, 2018. The delegates met with animation students, programme directors, government representatives and the President of UTech.
